1st cascading phase

In MACRO CASCADE new methods for storage of the wet algae biomass will be optimized to minimize the loss of algal biomolecules and value-added compounds. The first part of the task is to optimize conditioning technologies for desalination, dewatering and storage of the harvested macroalgae biomass.

Through fermentation and the creation of synergy effects with other products than soy, MACRO CASCADE will develop alternative protein products with increased digestion of nutrients. This will take place in the first cascading process and the goal is to demonstrate on pilot scale how the microbial fermentation process is able to produce probiotic/prebiotic feed and health promoting food products.
